Cultural Competence: A Systematic Review of Health Care Provider Educational Interventions- 6/7/2005

Cultural Competence: A Systematic Review of Health Care Provider Educational Interventions by Mary Catherine Beach, et. al. appeared in the April 2005 edition of Medical Care. Their review states that there is evidence that cultural competency training helps improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of health professionals, but that studies are still lacking to show that it improves patient compliance or health outcomes or that it achieves greater equity in the delivery of services across racial and ethnic groups.
